The Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) is an organisation that BW Tribal proudly supports for its dedication to diminishing the literacy gap experienced by Indigenous children living in remote areas of Australia. Through the provision and distribution of books to these communities, ILF aims to instil lifelong passions for reading and learning in Indigenous youth.
ILF, firmly planted in its mantra of “Reading Opens Doors" - That is, the doors to opportunity and choices - works tirelessly to expand literacy rates among Indigenous communities. Driven by an understanding that literacy is the key to opportunities and success, ILF holds a firm belief that every child in Australia deserves equal access to literacy resources, regardless of their location. The ILF's reach spans over 400 remote communities across Australia.

The foundation's three core programs - Book Supply, Book Buzz, and Community Publishing Projects - are respectively geared towards increasing the supply and relevance of books to remote communities, nurturing early literacy skills among children, and promoting an appreciation for Indigenous culture through maintaining and publishing works in traditional Indigenous languages.
Indigenous Literacy Day is one of ILF's annual flagship events that consistently stirs national support in raising vital funds. Focused on the power of togetherness, Indigenous Literacy Day showcases the significance of preserving Indigenous languages and stories, and the importance of improving Indigenous literacy.
The impact of ILF's work is profound. By providing over 700,000 culturally appropriate books, they've fuelled the imaginations of countless children, empowered their educators, and sparking dialogue about the importance of lifting literacy levels within remote Indigenous communities.
As an organisation, BW Tribal admires the work of ILF and strongly supports its vision. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder in the pursuit of equal opportunities for Indigenous children through the transformative power of literacy - because, after all, "Reading Opens Doors".
