Sharla Brown

From the tropical heart of Cairns, Sharla Brown brings fresh energy to BW Tribal's artist family. With Eastern and Western Kuku Yalanji heritage from her father's side, and Gkuthaarn, Teppathiggi, Ganggalida and Tagalaka roots from her mother's, Sharla's cultural connections run deep through Far North Queensland.

Just 18 months into her painting journey, Sharla's rediscovered her childhood creativity through an unexpected muse – her toddler. What started as a simple bedroom painting for her little one has blossomed into a vibrant artistic practice that fills her quiet morning moments and precious naptime hours.

Sharla's contemporary style bursts with colour, bringing native flora and fauna to life through bold acrylics. Each piece weaves together family stories, personal experiences and cultural identity – creating art that speaks to both her heritage and her role as a mum passing culture to the next generation.

Self-taught and fuelled by coffee and bikkies, Sharla's already sharing her culture globally, with collectors from Canada to the US. Her goal? Simple – to bring joy through her art, one colourful canvas at a time.
