On the 21st of March every year, we come together to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The day is a call to action for unity, understanding, and chucking prejudice out the window.
The UN started this observance in 1960 as a direct response to a South African police force opening fire and killing 69 innocent people at a peaceful protest against apartheid “pass laws”. Since then, March 21st has been a day to stir up a global conversation that's all about tolerance, equality, and giving racism the boot.
Here at BW Tribal, we're very much on board with these values; our entire brand is a canvas for authentic Indigenous Australian art, with a mission to showcase and uplift Indigenous communities from all over the country, and the world. BW Tribal is all about celebrating Indigenous culture and heritage, while opening eyes to the rich traditions and stories of Indigenous Australian cultures. It's our way of tackling stereotypes and racial biases head-on, sparking a deeper respect and love for Indigenous art and culture.
In the spirit of this important day, BW Tribal's mission is all about weaving diversity and inclusion into the fabric of society. We invite folks from every walk of life to explore and celebrate the beauty of Indigenous cultures and make strides toward a more inclusive and fair world.
By honouring the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, we all play a part in erasing racism and crafting a society where everyone is valued and respected, no matter their background. Let's make every day a step towards that goal.
