ARTWORK: OUR ELDERS ARE OUR LEADERS
The Yakan (Long-Necked Turtles) in my culture connect to the storylines of my Boodjah (Country). This is a contemporary piece reflecting the importance of our Elders in community.
The two larger turtles are the Elders guiding, protecting and teaching the smaller turtles who are the Kiolangarahs. The circles are the spirit of their ancestors celebrating the healing that comes from the work being done through this journey.
Look fabulous in this wonderful piece of art celebrating the wisdom of Elders and the story of the Yakan! Aboriginal artist Kiya Watt’s delicate depiction of the Yakan swimming through gorgeous hues of blue make this premium women’s polo shirt a graceful celebration of healing and learning.
